Supplemental Data: Baseline Inventory of Orthoptera and other high quality invertebrate food sources of the endangered Mississippi Sandhill Crane.
Six files represent data to quantified abundance of Orthoptera and other potential arthropod prey of the Mississippi Sandhill Crane and their relationship to aboveground net primary production (ANPP) at the Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge during the growing seasons of 2018 and 2019. Samples were collected monthly from March-October on 15 management compartments during each year of the study. Density of Orthoptera was estimated from transect counts and arthropod biomass from sweep samples, while ANPP was estimated by harvesting aboveground vegetation in sampling quadrats. Important orthopteran species were collected by supplemental hand netting and identified to species.
