Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) Basin Prioritization

The following data and resources were used for the SGMA Basin Prioritization of California’s 515 groundwater basins and subbasins. The Department of Water Resources is mandated by California Water Code Section 10933(b) to prioritize each basin based on eight components. DWR received several local, land use datasets from local agencies during the comment period. The local datasets were reviewed by DWR subject matter experts for accuracy. If the datasets were determined to be better, local data for the basin they were utilized instead of the statewide process. Local datasets that were utilized for component 5 are attached.
