The effect of varying invertebrate grazer assemblages on algae and sediment removal rates, and coral larval settlement, in South Florida from 2024-02-28 to 2024-08-06 (NCEI Accession 0305423)

Aquaria-based experiments were conducted to test the independent and interactive effects of different invertebrate grazer assemblages on their ability to remove algae and sediment from the benthos. Conditioned tiles were exposed to different assemblages of Diadema antillarum and Caribbean King crabs for ca. 14 days. Macroalgal and sediment removal across treatments was quantified. A subset (n=2) of these tiles were used for larval settlement assays to test the effects of different grazer assemblages on coral settlement.
