The Ephemeroptera, Odonata, Plecoptera, Megaloptera, and Trichoptera of Cumberland Gap National Historic Park
The U.S. Geological Survey conducted an inventory of aquatic insects of the orders Ephemeroptera (mayflies), Odonata (dragonflies, damselflies), Plecoptera (stoneflies), Megaloptera (fishflies, dobsonflies, and hellgrammites), and Trichoptera (caddisflies) (the EOPMT taxa) in Cumberland Gap National Historic Park (CUGA) in 1998, 2005, 2006, and 2007. This inventory is part of a broader survey of the EOPMT faunas of the 18 parks in the Cumberland Piedmont and the Appalachian Highlands monitoring networks of the National Park Service (NPS) Southeast Region. Standard aquatic sampling techniques supplemented with light-trap sampling were used to investigate the fauna.
