Transit Agency Security Personnel

Published by data.transportation.gov | Department of Transportation | Metadata Last Checked: January 08, 2026 | Last Modified: 2026-01-07
Transit agencies report to the NTD (via form S&S-30) security personnel in terms of Full-Time Equivalents (FTE) and according to the staffing levels at the beginning of the year. One FTE typically works 40 hours per week. An agency may use any reasonable method to allocate personnel across modes, such as allocating based on modal ridership or on modal annual trips. In certain instances, agencies may base personnel numbers on the prior year’s total hours worked.
