Utah FORGE: Temperature-Dependent Mode-I Fracture Toughness of Granite from SCB Tests - Dataset and Methods Report
This submission includes a methods report and an accompanying Excel dataset documenting temperature-dependent Mode-I fracture toughness (KIC) measurements for Utah FORGE granite obtained using semi-circular bending (SCB) tests in accordance with the ISRM Suggested Method. Testing was conducted on core material from the Utah FORGE site, including granite retrieved from approximately 5,874 ft measured depth in Well 58-32, with experiments performed at controlled temperatures ranging from approximately 25C to 250C. The dataset emphasizes at-temperature ("real-time") testing rather than post-heating/cooled protocols and includes specimen geometry, peak load, temperature, and calculated fracture toughness values, with quality-control flags for tests that did not initiate at the intended notch tip.
