Waivers Granted for Personal Home Construction

Published by data.montgomerycountymd.gov | Montgomery County of Maryland | Metadata Last Checked: November 08, 2025 | Last Modified: 2025-11-05
Montgomery County Code, Chapter 31C requires that the Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services must not issue any building permits to construct a new single-family home unless the person requesting the permit is registered as a New Home Builder by the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection (“OCP”). The law does not apply to a person who constructs a new home to be occupied as that person’s personal residence if the person receives a waiver from OCP and signs a statement affirming that the construction work is solely for the purpose of that person performing work on that person’s own property. This data shows the waivers approved by OCP issued to property owners to construct their personal residences on their property. The dataset is updated monthly. Please contact OCP if you have any questions.
