Bathythermograph (MBT) data from HMAS Derwent, HMAS Diamantina, and others in the Bismarck Sea, Coral Sea, and others from 1968-02-19 to 1969-08-13 (NCEI Accession 6800283)

This dataset includes bathythermograph (MBT) data from HMAS Derwent, HMAS Diamantina, HMAS Moresby, HMAS Parramatta, and QUEENBOROUGH in the Bismarck Sea, Coral Sea, Great Australian Bight, Gulf of Thailand, Indian Ocean, Solomon Sea, South China Sea, South Pacific Ocean, and Tasman Sea from 1968-02-19 to 1969-08-13. Data has been processed by NODC to the NODC standard Bathythermograph (MBT) (C128) format. The C128 format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.
